Public Memorandum Demanding Separate Hill District Status for Gool–Gulabgarh Submitted to Hon’ble SDM Mahore

A detailed publicmemorandum on behalf of the people of Gool, Gulabgarh, Dharmari and Mahore was today formally submitted to the Hon’ble SDM Mahore for onward transmission to the office of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, seeking recognition of Gool–Gulabgarh as a separate Hill District in Jammu & Kashmir.
The memorandum highlighted the historical, geographical, administrative, strategic and developmental importance of the region and strongly emphasized that the long-pending demand of the people deserves immediate consideration at the national level.
A large number of distinguished members of civil society, representatives of all political parties, respected citizens, social activists and local public representatives were present on the occasion and unanimously supported the demand. They stated that the region consists of three sub-divisions, eight tehsils and multiple niabats, making it fully capable of functioning as an independent administrative district.
The memorandum also referred to previous recommendations made by various commissions and highlighted the region’s strategic roads, hydropower potential, tourism opportunities and public development needs.
The Hon’ble SDM Mahore assured the delegation that the memorandum would be forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office and that copies addressed to all concerned authorities would also be sent accordingly.
Speakers on the occasion said that granting separate district status to Gool–Gulabgarh would significantly improve governance, administrative accessibility, infrastructure development and public welfare in this vast mountainous region.
The participants expressed hope that the Government of India would seriously consider this genuine and long-standing public demand in the larger interest of balanced regional development and better administration.
