58 RR Organises Gujjar–Bakkarwal Meet at Mahore, Focus on Welfare

Sarh (Mahore), Reasi 11 April : Indian Army’s 58 Rashtriya Rifles organized a Gujjar and Bakkarwal meet at Sarh in Mahore, aiming to strengthen ties with the nomadic communities and address their key concerns.The event was attended by senior Army officials along with prominent dignitaries including former Revenue Minister Ch. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, community leaders Haji Mohammad Yousuf Majnu and Mohammad Yaseen Poswal, SDM Mahore Shafqat Majeed Bhat, and SDPO Mahore Parul Bhardwaj.During the interaction, speakers highlighted the crucial role of Gujjar and Bakkarwal communities in maintaining ecological balance through their traditional migratory lifestyle. At the same time, they raised important issues such as lack of access to education and healthcare, seasonal displacement, and challenges related to grazing land and mobility.The Indian Army assured continued support to the communities and shared details of ongoing initiatives, including healthcare outreach, livelihood assistance, and better communication facilities along migratory routes.Community members appreciated the initiative and expressed their support for the Indian Army, emphasizing the need for continued cooperation for peace and development in the region.
