Anti-Encroachment Drive Conducted in Reasi Market, Goods Seized

Reasi 09 April:A joint Anti-encroachment drive was carried out today in Reasi by the Municipal Council in coordination with the police administration. The operation was conducted in the main market and bus stand area, where several roadside vendors were removed and goods placed outside shops were seized.During the drive, officials issued strict warnings to shopkeepers, stating that any future encroachment outside shops or unauthorized roadside vending would lead to legal action against the violators.The Municipal Council team also inspected the main market and instructed shopkeepers to keep their goods within designated limits and avoid placing items on roads or footpaths, ensuring smooth movement for pedestrians and vehicles.Speaking to the media, the Executive Officer said that the council had been receiving continuous complaints regarding encroachment in the market and bus stand areas. Notices had already been issued to shopkeepers around one and a half weeks ago, warning them not to place goods outside. However, due to non-compliance by some individuals, the action was taken today.He further added that such drives will continue in the future, and vendors operating with licenses must keep their documents with them. Strict legal action will be taken against those encroaching without permission.The Municipal Council has appealed to all shopkeepers and vendors to follow the rules and avoid encroachment, so that the general public does not face any inconvenience.
