DDC Reasi Reviews PMFBY Progress, Stresses Timely Achievement of Rabi Crop Coverage Targets

Reasi, January 09: District Development Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) to review the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).During the meeting, the Chief Agriculture Officer highlighted that PMFBY is a flagship crop insurance scheme of the Government of India, aimed at providing comprehensive insurance cover against crop loss or failure due to natural calamities, pests, and diseases, thereby helping stabilize farmers’ incomes and safeguarding their livelihoods.The DDC issued clear directions to bank officials and representatives of the insurance companies to intensify their efforts and ensure effective coordination so that the Rabi crop coverage target of 5,602 hectares is achieved well within the stipulated time frame.Emphasizing the importance of outreach and awareness, the DDC also instructed agriculture officials to proactively inform and mobilize farmers about the benefits of the scheme, ensuring that PMFBY reaches every eligible farmer in the district.The meeting was attended by ADDC Reasi Sukhdev Singh Samyal, CPO Reasi Narinder Kumar, CAO Reasi Vinod Kundal, LDM Reasi and other concerned officers.
