An awareness programme on Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties was organized for Para Legal Volunteers of District Reasi by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Reasi under chairmanship of Worthy Chairman DLSA Reasi Sh Khalil Choudhary (WorthyPr Distt and Session Judge Reasi) at District Court complex Reasi. Asst LADC’s namely Dheeraj Thakur, Nomni Sharma and Niharika Bamotra were spokesperson in this programme.
The programme was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and capacity of PLVs regarding the constitutional framework, enabling them to effectively disseminate legal awareness at the grassroots level. The Legal Aid Defence Counsels deliberated upon the scope and significance of Fundamental Rights guaranteed under the Constitution of India, including the right to equality, personal liberty, legal safeguards, and access to justice.
Special emphasis was laid on Fundamental Duties under Article 51-A, highlighting the responsibility of citizens to respect the Constitution, uphold unity and integrity of the nation, promote harmony, and protect public property. The PLVs were encouraged to incorporate these aspects during their field interactions and awareness activities.
The Legal Aid Defence Counsels also briefed the PLVs about the role of the Legal Aid Defence System, availability of free legal services, and effective coordination between PLVs, LADCs, and Legal Services Institutions for timely legal assistance to the needy.
The programme witnessed active participation of PLVs, followed by an interactive session wherein queries were addressed. The initiative was appreciated as a step towards strengthening the capacity of PLVs and improving outreach of legal aid services.
